UPDATE
I've been more diligent about Lila's napping yesterday and this morning. Down at 10am and again at 2pm sharp. She hasn't cried out as much so I guess it was just overexhaustion. I thought she was transitioning to 1 nap, but I guess it's still too early for that.
As for the bumps, I gave her another scrambled egg yesterday. Again, she loved it and finished the whole thing. She still has a few of the same bumps left from Sunday but no scratching. Also no bumps on the chest this time. The pediatrician thinks it is an allergic reaction to something but isn't sure if it's egg or something else. She said we can most likely give Lila food with eggs in it (noodles, etc), just not whole egg alone and bring benadryl with us. When we're back, we'll try scrambled eggs again and bring her in if the same dots come out.
11 AM and still napping
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The past couple of days, Lila has been screaming out during sleep and naps. Have any xanga mommies had this happen? Is it a nightmare? Her eyes will be closed and she'll scream out ma ma or nah nah. i'll go over and see she's still asleep. She'll stop on her own and just stay asleep. When she was around 4 months, i remember she would do a random yell at night but it hasn't happened again until now.
Also, I gave Lila egg whites for the first time yesterday. She seemed totally okay, and loved eating them. But 2 hours later, I noticed these bumps on her thighs and lightly on her chest yesterday. It looks like this:
She wasn't itchy, but has been cranky and super clingy. Part of me thinks she's clingy bc of teething (her gums look a little inflamed.) The doctor said she might have a reaction from the vaccination she got on Wednesday since most of the bumps were around the injection site...Anyway, they are basically gone today and I'm thinking of trying egg whites again. I didn't give her benadyl bc we didnt know if it was allergies or from the vaccination. Maybe she just has an intolerance...?

J is now in a period of crying/screaming during sleep...I THINK its night terrors??? Hmmm but I noticed he only does it when he is overtired (i.e. sleeping late or not napping enough) or if he was overstimulated during the day.
Hmmm...the bumps look like an allergic reaction? J gets those from egg whites too. When he was younger it was more severe and on his face. After age 1--it looks like little bumps on his back, chest...and a few on his arms and legs. Try the egg whites again just to make sure! Can she eat yolk ok???
that does look like a reaction to her vaccinations
i have no idea. i hope she'll be back her to old self soon though. poor girl.
@hkcho - thanks! the sleep screaming from being overtired would make sense. it was a really hectic weekend and she only napped once today. i guess i need to be more diligent about naps during the day... egg yolks are definitely ok. i will def try scrambled egg again tomorrow.
Jonah whines in his sleep... but he's always done that. Whines with his eyes closed, and then he stops on his own. I wonder if that's the same thing? I have no idea why he does that...
my friend's baby full out cries in her sleep. they used to try to wake her, but it didn't help so now they just let her go and she'll stop on her own. totally freaky though.
Ariana cries in the middle of the night or nap time when she play too hard in the daytime. I think it's due to over exposure. The bumps does look liek allergic reaction. Did Lila ever had the vaccines before or was this the first time? Wait till all the bumps disappear before teating out the egg whites again. BTW did you leave for China already? Sorry for the delay with the present. I didn't get a chance to go to post office yet. I'll try to mail it out this week.
Tell Lila I'm so sorry.
awww...poor lila! i hope she isn't allergic to egg whites. i don't know much about night terrors or nightmares but my baby class leader said that around 1 and after babies could have night terrors or nightmares where they just wake up crying/screaming for no reason. in most cases it'll just pass so there's nothing to worry about. i hope the night crying passes quickly!!
@tubecozy - wow that does sound freaky. i wonder if it's just a phase? coby doesnt do that right?
@littlemisstomato - he'll whine a little, but will be ok once we feed him or he finds the paci.
i remember my friend's baby did this for many months...i'm not sure if she's still doing this. she just turned 2.
@jpjchen - yeah i feel like it must be overexhaustion. lila's had those vaccines before so i dont know think it's from that. oh and i still have to send you the stuff for w and a! they're at my parents house but maybe we can meet up in november after we're back?
my baby cries out sometimes in her sleep too. sometimes when we make a loud noise or something, she'll make a sound, but then just falls back asleep.
btw, how much does your daughter rely on our pacifier to sleep? my baby is starting to rely on it heavily these days, and i'm wondering if that's a bad thing.
the screaming/getting startled during sleep could be overstimulation. A lot of adults in my family mentioned that to me but I thought it was rediculous (new mom ignorance at the time:) but after a few times I noticed she was only like that when she was really tired but overstimulated (too much running around, laughing, etc a few hours before bedtime). She's now 5 but still this way when she hangs out with her cousins and have too much fun.
Babies sleep so soundly and peaceful, don't you love watching them sleeping. Lila sleeps w/ her pacifier too...Katie won't sleep without it. Sometimes she has one in her mouth and 2 others are in her hand. I am thinking of getting rid of the pacifier soon, but I know she will not be a happy camper.
My daughter had the same bumps when she was young as well. Those bumps appeared all over her body and it was so itchy for her. I think she was allergic to something like red pepper. If you aren't sure, you can always give her an allergy test to see what she is allergic to, but be prepare the test isn't fun. I know a lot of ppl are allergic to eggs and diary products. Hope this helps!
glad you're figuring it out. i wonder if it's a phase still, nevertheless.
c's been doing 1 nap since 10 month b/c he moved up a class in daycare. at first he was exhausted and still would want 2 naps on the weekend, but i think he's used to it now. and he'll only nap 1-1.5hr most of the time.
and i noticed lila's still using her pacifier too. i was just thinking about how we're going to get rid of it last night. c's pretty dependent on it for falling asleep these days. a month ago, not so much. i think now that he's pulling himself up more and more active he needs something else to calm him down.
I hope the bumps go away fast.
